Our Singapore food tours can never escape the hot weather. Located near the equator, the warm temperature is inevitable. Do not fear. We have a Singaporean dessert that was created to cope with such conditions.

The best food to chill out with in Singapore.

Cendol is an iced sweet dessert. It contains droplets of worm-like green rice flour jelly, coconut milk, and palm sugar syrup. This dessert originated in Malaysia. Back in the day, Singapore was a port with many immigrants and locals.Working together and exchanging culture. There is no doubt that Cendol was then introduced to Singapore as a dessert for both kids and adults. It is enjoyed during the hot weather and is very popular when we enjoy it on the food tours.

As this dessert has traveled across many parts of Southeast Asia, there are many variations to it. In Singapore, it’s served with red beans on top of the palm sugar & green rice flour jelly.

I went to have my Cendol craving fixed at Geylang Serai to this famous Cendol stall. Needless to say, I had almost 3 bowls. This stall is own by Mdm Bedah Madin. She started the stall not too long ago and only sells Cendol. It could serve as a drink or dessert in the bowl. She works together with her kids and the queue is longer than ever on the weekends.

Considering the location where her stall is, market-goers often stop by to have a quick iced dessert. Mdm Bedah Madin charges only $2 for a standard cendol in a bowl. Her Cendol does not contain red bean unless requested. On the food tours we normally go for it as it adds to the sensation.

Aside from this stall, Cendol Geylang Serai is often seen at Ramadhan bazaars and Pasar Malams. Endless crowd will queue to enjoy this dessert.
