This week Singabites is teaming up with our friends at Drinks and co and Winesave Asia. Everyday we’ll be matching a good bottle of wine with one of Singapore’s favourite local dishes. If you’d like to join in you can click on the links to buy the wine. And we’ll give you some recommendations for where to get the food. We hope you enjoy it.

A 3 scoop gelato from Birds of Paradise.
A 3 scoop tub of Gelato from one of our favourite dessert shops in Singapore

To end the week we’re indulging in one of our favourite desserts. This is botanically inspired gelato from Bird’s of Paradise. Edwin, the owner, was inspired by nature’s flavours. Since he was a child he had dreamed of creating gelato. Thankfully, for all of us here in Singapore, Edwin kept on with his dream. We now have 2 Bird’s of Paradise outlets. The original in Katong and a second at Jewel. At the shops you’ll find unique flavours such as lemongrass, rose and chrysanthemum on offer. The business has also been featured in the Michelin guide. They have been awarded a Michelin plate. You can order your bucket of gelato here.

Drinks and Co Wine Recommendation

a bottle of prosecco

This prosecco offers aromas and flavours of sliced apple and fresh cream. It is a bit fruitier than other proseccos and so is a perfect pairing for the gelato. There’s a light fizz and a clean finish with a slightly bitter aftertaste. You can order your bottles here.
